1. How long does the tuning process take and what is the process for this upgrade?
About 15 minutes! First we will plug the computer into your vehicle and check your ECU ID and see if you need a TSB update from Toyota (which we can take care of). Your VIN is unlocked through the VFtuner software (it's how the developer gets his cut!). After that, we flash the desired tune onto your vehicle.
2. Will this need to regularly be updated? Do I have to keep paying you?
Not necessarily. Some tune developers create new updates with the release of new mapping and data. If you get new mods and need adjustments, a reflash may be desired -- edits made to your files and a reflash for this comes with a fee of $50.
3. Does the tune affect my factory warranty?
Generally speaking, these tunes are not detectable from basic diagnostic scans at the dealership. Your ECU ID is retained and matches what it would be from factory.
4. Can you flash me back to the stock tune if needed? And can I get a refund?
If for some reason you feel the need to revert your vehicle back to its stock status, we can do that very simply. We can offer partial refunds if that is needed. The refund would be the paid amount less the VIN unlock fee for your vehicle (see #1), which is $40-$175 depending of which model. Refunds are only given within 90 days of the tune. We do not refund because you are selling your vehicle.
5. Can you calibrate my speedometer after increasing my tire size?
These tunes cannot calibrate your speedometer. That requires an aftermarket in-line calibration device. If you would like help with that, we can do that!
6. Is getting a tune worthwhile for a stock vehicle?
We have tuned many stock vehicles! Although you may not have felt the impact that many mods would do to make your vehicle struggle on the road, you can definitely improve your vehicles overall performance and drivability of your vehicle.
7. What other settings can you change in my vehicle?
Upon request, we can remove the seat belt chime, blinker ticks, window settings, and more. Some vehicle models can have alternator adjustments for aftermarket AGM batteries. Some vehicles are eligible to get a "Gearlock" tune so make the S shifting mode replicate true manual control.
8. Will this improve my MPG?
We cannot guarantee MPG as everyone has a different build, terrain, and driving style. However, many people report improved MPG with some tunes. Reach out for more information on what options would be best for you.
9. Does a tune affect the longevity of my vehicle?
These tunes are heavily tested to ensure safe ranges for all operating temperatures. Everything is in the way that the driver operates their vehicle and commits to routine maintenance. These tunes are made by Toyota/Lexus drivers with the intention of keeping them reliable.
